Information
Here
at samplevictim.com
we aim to give you as much information and advice
regarding samples and sample sites.
We have put these points of considerations together
to help you when looking to buy and use samples
for your projects.
Points
of consideration:
- DO
NOT DISMISS ANY LICENSE!
The license, primarily, is the most important
aspect of a sample!
It's all very good a website having
a massive collection of samples at outstanding
quality, but this really means jack if there
are too many restrictions within the license
preventing the use. Its like purchasing a
mobile phone without a service provider, a
dog lead without a dog or a can of beans without
a can opener... need we go on!
- If
you are not 100% sure you can use a sample
for the purpose intended, don't use it!..
we have a saying at samplevictim.com,
"If in doubt, Leave it out!"
- If
you are unsure or don't understand a license,
contact the owners with your questions before
you purchase, they should be more then happy
to answer them. Don't just take the risk.
- Don't
just take a verbal comment as bond. If a provider
tells you, verbally, you can use a sample
for a specific purpose, get it in writing!
At the end of the day, if there are legal
implications later and you have nothing in
writing YOU will be in big trouble NOT the
supplier!!
- Every
supplier has their own license. Not all licenses
are the same or cater for the same usage.
Most, if not all will allow personal, non
profit use. Not all allow commercial use,
those that do may still have restrictions
in place regarding commercial music and /
or video sync, specially if the sounds are
not combined with other sounds from other
sources (Meaning being used on their own).
- To
the best of our ability, we try to get the
facts about samples and licensing information.
We do stress you don't just take our word
for it. Do some investigating yourself.
- If
you have any questions or find the information
useful please contact
us :)
